What is Photography?
According to Oxford Dictionary, photography is the art or practice of taking and processing photographs. The word "Photography" comes from the Greek word photos which means light, and grafo which means writing or painting. Therefore, photography can also be described as the action of writing or painting using the light as the medium.
Photography is an art
Photography can be produced by anyone as long as he has a camera. Does that mean everybody can create an art out of a photography? Photography is an art, means that the activity of generating photos has to consider the aesthetic essence of an image. Too deep, huh?
Now I will explain in a more simple language. Art is very subjective. It depends heavily on the taste of the photographer. If you take a photo and you personally like the photo, then it is a good image. Period. If you want to share your photos to people, then it would be better if your photos meet people's taste also. Regardless, in the end it is up to you. You are the photographer, there is no right or wrong in an art, including photography.
